Impact and commitments
Our commitments, and how we keep them.
Every company now claims a responsibility policy. The difference lies in the proof. Our impact rests on four things: companies created to answer a real problem, the measurement of our emissions and their reduction before any offsetting, a body of transmission work through publishing and education, and the direct support we provide through our foundation and associations.
Impact through our companies
Companies designed for impact
Several of our companies were created to answer a social or environmental problem. Impact is not a side project there, it is the business itself.
Free and inclusive mobility
YOLO runs free self-service bikes, along with electric taxis and wheelchairs for people with reduced mobility.
Banking for the excluded
Homiz serves non-residents and expatriates. Phaneo runs on a cooperative model. Two services built for audiences poorly served elsewhere.
Training where training is missing
EIGHT runs programmes in Morocco, Tunisia, Ethiopia and Rwanda. Talent trains and builds without leaving the country.
Clean energy for everyone
InaEnergy offers subscriptions to fully renewable energy, making the transition simple and affordable.
We do not fund causes on the side of our business, we create the companies that carry them. Reborn & Partners, our turnaround fund, takes over struggling companies to preserve their activity, their know-how and their jobs.
Our commitments
What we do, and how we measure it
Since its creation the group has aligned its activities with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Every company and every initiative is mapped to the goals it serves. Here is what that means in practice.
Entrepreneurship for everyone
Through the EDN association, the group supports founders from under-represented communities: a non-profit incubator, the Objectif CES programme that takes African startups to Las Vegas, the EDN Cafés in priority neighbourhoods, and the Madiba Center in Paris.
Educating girls through sport
A network of women's basketball clubs in Tunisia, with courts, equipment and coach training, built with the Tunisian and French basketball federations and the French Development Agency. Race for Africa extends it: one runner registered, one pair of trainers given to a girl joining a club.
Measuring before offsetting
NG Horizons, our in-house sustainability audit and advisory practice, measures the group's greenhouse gas emissions company by company. That measurement drives the reduction plans. Offsetting only comes afterwards, on what could not be avoided.
Planting in southern Tunisia
A thousand organic date palms across twelve hectares at the edge of the Sahara. The trees produce oxygen, slow the advance of the desert and capture carbon. Above all they create lasting farming activity and jobs for struggling communities, in a region that has few.
Transmission through publishing
Publishing is how knowledge travels from one generation to the next. Our titles pass on values, publish factual and verified news, and train pupils to read information critically through media literacy programmes. A fifth of the group's advertising space is given to environmental and social causes, and magazines are printed on PEFC certified paper with vegetable inks.
Africa over the long run
Africa Moves devotes a full day of every major event to women's entrepreneurship. Accelerate Africa is building a network of incubators across the continent. EIGHT is opening higher education institutes there.
Solidarity across borders
Through the IStandByYou association, the group stands with populations in crisis, starting with IStandByLebanon, launched on the anniversary of the Beirut port explosion.
